A California woman living in a veritable rainbow wonderland has tickled the fancies and captured the imaginations of thousands of fans on social media.

Amina Mucciolo doesn’t do anything muted, subtle, or understated. The social media influencer and decor designer (behind the all-things-rainbow brand Studio Mucci) lives her whole life in technicolor, from her incredible rainbow braids to her clothes to her food.

And this spring, the 34-year-old completely redecorated her Downtown L.A. loft apartment, where she lives with her husband Salvatore. With a whole lot of creativity — and even more elbow grease — she’s transformed the 650-square-foot spot into what can only be described as a unicorn’s paradise — or what she calls ‘Cloudland’.

Amina told Daily Mail Online that she and her husband moved to this apartment about a year ago, but earlier this year they updated the decor. 

‘It’s really important to me that where I live is a reflection of me and my personality, and also of my husband,’ she said. ‘We like for our space to be fun and happy and inspiring.’

Amina makes a living as an influencer with Instagram posts and YouTube videos, and also by selling hand-made items like tassel garlands, piñatas, and other party decor — which many of her customers use to decorate their homes. So it’s natural that her own home would reflect that fun, party-ready feel.

‘I wanted this place to feel like a living art installation,’ she said, adding that she also wanted the inside to feel like spring all year round, because it’s her favorite season. ’There’s something about what happens in spring — the holidays, the colors, that fresh feeling of happiness. It’s so inspiring for me.’

That spring feeling really takes hold in the living room, wear the walls are painted a light purple. On one, behind a bold green Joybird sofa — a color that was ‘totally out of my comfort zone’, she said, but really paid off — is her giant ‘flower wall’.

She’d seen similar installations at parties that looked fabulous, and wondered why people didn’t have them in their houses — so she made one for hers, putting in a lot of work placing all the faux-flowers together on a canvas, one by one.

On another wall is one of her multicolor tassel garlands, and on the floor is a whimsical rug by Coco Carpets. Atop that she has a glass coffee table shaped like a diamond, inside of which is a jar of colorful paper cranes. She actually has hundreds of these cranes all around her living room, including a bunch hanging from the ceiling.

‘It kind of feels like there are birds flying around all the time,’ she said, which drives home that feeling of ‘spring’.
On the opposite wall — which also runs through her kitchen — is her biggest masterpiece. There, she (along with her husband and best friend) painted a 10-foot by 20-foot mural of a gradient rainbow with multicolor paint splatters on top.

‘I knew I wanted for there to be a rainbow element in my home, at least one really strong rainbow statement,’ she explained of the project, which took two days to complete. ‘I love it so much because I knew it would be great but I was still so scared to do it... But I followed my instinct and I knew it was gonna be good. 

Over in the kitchen there’s more rainbow flair, where she stuck to a palette of vibrant pastels. Using washi tape, she covered each cabinet in a different color, adding a striped rainbow trim along the bottom. She even covered her dishwasher with a blue sky design. 

Amina said her kitchen was inspired by things she loved as a kid, like My Little Pony and Care Bears — and to that end, there are about 50 different colorful figurines sitting atop the cabinets, ‘watching over’ her whole kitchen.
The bedroom is bright too, but Amina had an obstacle here: There was no natural light. She decided to work with that, settling on a ‘crystal cave’ theme for the room.

‘So I really wanted to try to embrace that there was no natural light because its normally a design challenge,’ she said. ‘It looks like a cave, so I’m gonna turn it into a cave.’

She painted a mural above her bed that looks like the mouth of a very colorful cave, and the rest of the decor is inspired by crystal, marble, and agate.
To one side of her bed, though, is a twist: her novelty bag wall. A clever way to work around not having much storage space for her things, she uses the spot to display her purses, which are shaped like rainbows, unicorns, and desserts.

Though the rainbowification of the home is certainly a bit girly, Amina says her husband is very supportive of what she’s done with the space.

‘My husband is such a good sport,’ she said. ‘He loves it. It makes him happy too. He’s been doing this business with me, so its what our lives look like now.’
