The Cyclonic Storm “TITLI” in the Bay of Bengal is located 1100km away from Trincomalee and it is likely to intensify further and move North-westwards towards Andhra Pradesh coast of India.
The system was located near 17.3N, 85.7E, at 14.00 hrs today (10).
The prevailing showery condition in the south western part of the Island expected to reduce some extend from tomorrow, the Department of Meteorology said.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Central, Southern and Sabaragamuwa provinces.
Showers or thundershowers will occur elsewhere particularly after 2.00p.m.
Heavy falls about 75 mm can be expected at some places in Southern and Uva provinces and in the Kaluthara and Ratnapura districts.
Meanwhile the severe Cyclonic storm ‘LUBAN’ was in the south-west Arabian Sea is now located near latitude 14.1°N and longitude 59°E, 2500km away from Colombo.
It is very likely to intensify further and move west-northwestwards, away from Sri Lanka.
Very heavy showers/thundershowers and very rough seas, very high winds can be expected in the sea areas within 100km to 200 km of the above position.
The Met Department requests to refrain from engaging in naval and fishing activities in these areas.
