The Fort Magistrate’s Court has issued an order preventing the Inter-University Students’ Federation (IUSF) convenor and 12 others from holding protests while inconveniencing pedestrians and vehicular movement today (June 07), the police said.

The order also prevents the protesters from entering the President’s Office, the President’s House, the Finance Ministry and the Galle Face area, according to the police.

The court has issued this order in consideration of the facts presented by the Fort, Kollupitiya and Kompanna Veediya Police Stations that the general public may be inconvenienced owing to the relevant protest march.

Accordingly, the restraining order is imposed on 13 individuals including the IUSF Convenor Madushan Chandrajith, Convenor of the Inter-University Bikkhu’s Federation (IUBF) Ven. Galwewa Siridhamma Thero, Duminda Nagamuwa and Lahiru Weerasekara of the Frontline Socialist Party (FSP).

Furthermore, the Fort Magistrate’s Court has ordered the respondents not to damage public or private property and to refrain from any violent incidents that may provoke the public.
