New appointments made to fill SLFP’s three senior positions

Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has appointed a new Senior Vice President, a Treasurer and a National Organizer after Minister Mahinda Amaraweera, State Minister Lasantha Alagiyawanna and MP Duminda Dissanayake were removed from their respective party positions on Saturday (30).

Thereby, SLFP’s Mahiyanganaya Constituency Organizer K. P. Gunawardena was appointed to the post of National Organizer, which was previously held by Dissanayake.

Meanwhile, former Western Provincial Minister Hector Bethmage replaced Alagiyawanna as the Treasurer. Former Central Province Chief Minister Sarath Ekanayake was appointed as the Senior Vice President to replace Amaraweera.

SLFP’s Central Committee members, Executive Committee members, Constituency and District Organizers and all the officials of the affiliated organizations of the party had been called to the party headquarters on Saturday morning for a pivotal meeting, chaired by the party leader, former President Maithripala Sirisena.
