The Disaster Management Centre (DMC), with technical leadership from the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in Sri Lanka and generous funding from the Government of the United States of America, today (04) has launched Sri Lanka’s Anticipatory Action (AA) Roadmap for 2026–2030, bringing together government, UN, and humanitarian partners.
According to a statement issued by the WFP, the roadmap outlines a coordinated approach to anticipatory action across key sectors.
The statement said that the AA roadmap strengthens Sri Lanka’s disaster preparedness by advancing impact-based forecasting, early warning systems, and forecast-based financing.
Developed through the National Anticipatory Action Working Group, which includes the DMC, WFP, UN agencies, I/NGOs, civil society and private sector partners, the initiative is expected to support timely, early action to reduce disaster risks and better protect vulnerable communities, it added.
