The suspects were arrested yesterday (07) by the Kalutara Divisional Crime Division and the Omanthai Police.

Accordingly, on May 28, a man who was riding a motorcycle was shot and killed by a group travelling in a car within the Kalutara South Police Division.

Following investigations launched by the Kalutara Divisional Crime Division into the incident, a suspect who allegedly provided assistance and support for the crime was arrested yesterday morning in the Walagedara area under the Welipenna Police Division by the Kalutara South Police.

The suspect is a 36-year-old resident of the Hambantota area, police said.

Further investigations revealed that warrants had been issued against him by the Magistrate’s Courts of Matugama, Kalutara, Tissamaharama, Walasmulla, and Morawaka.

Meanwhile, in connection with another incident on the night of June 06, where a person was killed after being attacked with a sharp weapon in the Navatikulam area of the Omanthai Police Division, two male suspects and two female suspects were arrested by Omanthai Police for allegedly aiding and abetting the crime.

The arrested suspects include two males aged 17 and 27, and two females aged 20 and 23, all residents of the Navatikulam and Omanthai areas.
