Health authorities have inspected around 300 houses and government institutions in Athuraliya Medical Officer of Health (MOH) division in the Matara District amid a heightened risk of dengue.
Officials said legal action has been taken against 19 individuals, with cases referred to court, after inspections found mosquito larvae breeding sites in their premises.
Meanwhile, 30 households identified as highly unhygienic and conducive to mosquito breeding were issued final red notices, the Athuraliya MOH office stated.
Authorities reported a significant number of dengue cases from densely populated areas in Athuraliya and Thibbotuwawa.
In response to the situation, health officials have also carried out fogging operations in crowded areas across Akuressa and Athuraliya towns, further added health authorities.
