
Dengue mosquito larvae were found in 50 premises out of 189 government institutions inspected during the first day of the three-day national dengue prevention and control programme, the National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU) of the Ministry of Health and Mass said.
Out of a total of 31,196 premises inspected on the first day of the programme, a total of 2,097 premises with dengue mosquito larvae were identified.
The NDCU issued a detailed report on the progress of inspections carried out on the relevant premises and the programs implemented yesterday (08).
According to the report, a total of 31,196 premises were inspected yesterday. Of these, a total of 8,121 premises were identified as potential dengue mosquito breeding sites.
The report further confirmed that a total of 2,097 premises were found to have dengue mosquito larvae.
In addition, a total of 1,165 notices were issued yesterday, while legal action was taken against 789 individuals.
Among specific categories, a total of 56 schools were inspected yesterday, of which 31% were identified as potential breeding sites, while dengue mosquito larvae were detected in 07 schools.
Of the 178 premises inspected in the construction sector, 93 were identified as potential breeding sites, 41 were found to have dengue mosquito larvae, and legal action was taken against 24 individuals.
A total of 189 government institutions were inspected, with 50 found to have dengue mosquito larvae and 70 identified as potential breeding sites.
Out of 96 religious places inspected, 18 were found to have dengue mosquito larvae, while 42 were identified as potential breeding sites.
Meanwhile, a total of 77 factory premises were inspected yesterday, with dengue mosquito larvae detected in 17 of them.
A total of 28,230 residential premises were inspected during the three-day programme, with 7,088 identified as potential breeding sites and dengue mosquito larvae found in 1,760 premises.
Meanwhile, legal action was taken against 657 households, the report stated.
According to the data released by the national Dengue prevention and control program, findings indicate a significantly high prevalence of mosquito breeding in locations such as schools and construction sites.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Health has urged the public to maintain clean surroundings, eliminate mosquito breeding sites, and extend full cooperation to the ongoing three-day national dengue prevention and control programme.
