Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as in the Galle, Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara Eliya districts, according to the Department of Meteorology.

Fairly heavy rainfall of about 75 mm is likely at some places in these areas.

Several spells of showers may occur in the Mannar and Anuradhapura districts, it said.

Strong winds of about 40–50 kmph can be expected at times over the western slopes of the central hills, as well as in the Northern and North-Central provinces, and in the Hambantota and Trincomalee districts.

Fairly strong winds of about 30–40 kmph can be expected at times over other areas of the island, the Meteorology Department noted.

Accordingly, the general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
