
An investigation has been launched following the discovery of an unidentified body near the Kelani Bridge in Sedawatta, within the Grandpass Police Division.
Police said the body was found after officers received information regarding a corpse that had washed ashore in the area.
The identity of the deceased has yet to be established. Preliminary observations indicate that the victim is a male aged between 35 and 40 years.
According to police, the deceased was approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall and had hair about one inch in length. He was found shirtless and dressed in blue shorts.
Following the magistrate’s inquiry, the body has been transferred to the morgue of the Colombo National Hospital for further examination.
Grandpass Police are conducting further investigations to determine the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding the death.
