
The number of tourists who have arrived in Sri Lanka since the beginning of January has surpassed the 1.1 million mark.
According to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA), a total of 1,104,354 tourists visited the country between January 1 and June 21.
Meanwhile, the SLTDA stated that 82,332 tourist arrivals were recorded during the period from June 1 to June 21.
Among the tourists who arrived so far this month, the highest number of visitors were from India, accounting for 31,158 arrivals.
The United Kingdom recorded the second-highest number of tourist arrivals, with 6,658 visitors, while China ranked third with 5,178 arrivals.
India also remained the largest source market for Sri Lanka’s tourism sector during the period from January 1 to June 21, contributing 281,418 arrivals.
In addition, 104,751 tourists from the United Kingdom and 76,963 tourists from Russia visited Sri Lanka during the same period.
The highest number of tourist arrivals recorded within the first six months of the year was in February, with a total of 279,328 visitors.
