Four suspects, including a woman, have been arrested at the arrival terminal of the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake during a raid conducted by officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) based on intelligence information.
The operation, carried out yesterday (27), had led to the seizure of significant quantities of the narcotic substances ‘Hashish’ and ‘Kush.’
One suspect has been arrested with 3kg and 8g of Hashish’ and 1kg and 82g of Kush. Two other suspects were found in possession of 3kg and 968mg of Kush, while another suspect was arrested with 2kg and 310g of Hashish’ and 1kg and 952g of Kush.
The suspects are three men aged 27 and 30, while the female suspect is 34 years old. They are residents of Hettimulla, Wellampitiya and Danowita.
Further investigations are being carried out by the Katunayake Airport Unit of the Police Narcotics Bureau.
