
A delegation representing the Sri Lanka’s Tamil National Council has met with the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, C. Joseph Vijay, in Chennai today (03) and had held extensive discussions.
During the discussion, a written memorandum has been handed over to the Chief Minister Vijay outlining several key political and human rights concerns relating to Sri Lankan Tamils.
In a post published on X (formerly Twitter), the leader of Tamil National People's Front (TNPF), MP Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam stated that the memorandum highlighted issues including the political and human rights challenges faced by Sri Lankan Tamils, the need for a political solution to abolish the unitary constitutional system and enact an agreeable federal power devolution method for the North and measures to find a permanent solution to the issues affecting Indian and Sri Lankan Tamil fishermen, and the need to resolve the long-term problems faced by Sri Lankan Tamil refugees living in India.
The delegation was led by Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam, and comprised of six representatives of the Tamil National Council, including; General Secretary of TNPF and former MP Selvarajah Kajendren, President of Tamil National Green Movement, Ponnudurai Ayngaranesan, President of the Democratic Tamil National Alliance, K.V. Thavarasa, TNPF National Organiser, Dharumalingam Suresh, Spokesman, Kanakaratnam Sugash, and Propaganda Secretary Nadarajah Kandeepan.
