The US launched another round of airstrikes against Iran hours after President Donald Trump said the ceasefire between the two countries might be “over.”
US Central Command announced the strikes in a post on X.
“At the direction of the Commander in Chief, U.S. Central Command forces have started conducting additional strikes against Iran to further degrade their ability to threaten freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz,” the command posted on X. “The United States is holding Iran accountable for recent unjustified aggression against commercial shipping and civilian crews freely navigating a vital international waterway.””
Meanwhile, explosions were heard in the Iranian city of Bushehr, according to Iran’s semi-official Fars News Agency.
The exact location of the explosions is unclear, according to Fars.
Later, two US projectiles hit a military base south of Bushehr, according to the Islamic Republic News Agency, which cited the deputy governor for political and security affairs of Bushehr Province. The official told the agency that the government had not yet received reports of casualties.
The Persian Gulf port city is home to Iran’s Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant. However, Iran’s Nournews Agency, affiliated with the country’s Supreme National Security Council, said the power plant has not been damaged.
