PM Harini returns to Sri Lanka after Qatar visit to offer condolences on former Emir’s passing

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya returned to Sri Lanka this morning (16) following her official visit to the State of Qatar.

 

The Prime Minister travelled to Qatar on July 14 to convey the condolences of the Government and the people of Sri Lanka on the passing of the former Amir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani.

 

During her visit, the Prime Minister had expressed her deepest sympathies to Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, mother of the Amir of the State of Qatar and Chairperson of the Qatar Foundation, the PM’s Office said.

 

She also had conveyed her condolences to Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani and Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, daughters of the late Father Amir, as well as to members of the Qatari Royal Family.

 

The Prime Minister further extended her condolences to Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, Qatar's Minister of Social Development and Family, the statement added.

 

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister met with the Amir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, yesterday (15).

 

During the meeting, Prime Minister Amarasuriya conveyed the deepest condolences of the Government and the people of Sri Lanka to His Highness the Amir on the passing of the Father Amir, His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the statement said.
