Four suspects, including two women, have been arrested for allegedly aiding and abetting the fatal shooting that occurred in the Palliyawatta area of Kadirana, Wattala.
Police Media Spokesman Assistant Superintendent of Police F.U. Wootler said the suspects will be produced before the Fort Magistrate's Court to obtain detention orders for further investigations.
He also stated that five police teams have been deployed to investigate the shooting.
The incident occurred yesterday (23) when a gunman opened fire at a child’s birthday party in Palliyawatta, Wattala, killing a 39-year-old man.
According to police, the attack was allegedly intended to target a suspected drug trafficker known as "Kudu Roshan" of Mattakkuliya. However, the gunman is believed to have mistakenly shot and killed another man who was standing nearby after missing the intended target.
