Atmospheric conditions are becoming favourable for afternoon thundershowers in the Northern and Eastern provinces during the next few days, according to the Department of Meteorology.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Northern, North Central, Uva, Eastern, Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as in the Hambantota District, after 2.00 p.m.
Fairly heavy rainfall exceeding 75 mm is likely at some places in these areas, the Department said.
Several spells of showers will occur in the Western and North Western provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.
The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damage caused by temporary, localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
