The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) has stated that a total of 1,616 individuals from 458 families in 41 Divisional Secretariat Divisions (DSDs) across 10 districts have been affected by the prevailing adverse weather conditions in Sri Lanka.
The DMC said that one individual has died while another remains missing due to disaster-related incidents reported during the period from September 18 to 6.00 a.m. today (22).
Meanwhile, strong winds that swept through the Galahitiyawa North Grama Niladhari Division last night (21) had damaged five houses and caused extensive damage to the electricity supply network in the area.
The DMC further said that 94 individuals from 26 affected families have been accommodated at three safety centers due to the adverse weather conditions.
