Sri Lanka calls for de-escalation as FM Vijitha Herath meets Iranian Foreign Minister
Sri Lanka has reiterated its call for de-escalation and the peaceful settlement of disputes through dialogue and diplomacy.
This was emphasized when Minister of Foreign Affairs Vijitha Herath held discussions with Iranian Foreign Minister Dr. Seyed Abbas Araghchi on the sidelines of the High-Level Week of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81) in New York.
During the meeting, the two ministers exchanged views on current regional and international developments.
Minister Herath also encouraged continued negotiations aimed at restoring regional stability at the earliest opportunity, reaffirming Sri Lanka’s support for diplomatic efforts to resolve disputes and reduce tensions in the region.
