Three individuals have been arrested with more than four kilograms of narcotics, including heroin, crystal methamphetamine (‘Ice’) and cocaine, in separate raids carried out in three areas.

 

Police said officers from the North Western Province Crime Division conducted a raid on September 26 based on information received and arrested a suspect with 2 kilograms and 842 grams of heroin.

 

Based on information uncovered during the investigation, officers searched a house in Yayawatta, Palapotha and recovered additional quantities of narcotics.

 

The owner of the house subsequently appeared before the Tangalle Police Station through an attorney.

 

Further investigations into the raid are being conducted by the Tangalle Police and the North Western Province Crime Division.

 

Meanwhile, last afternoon (30), officers from the Jayawardhanapura Camp of the Police Special Task Force conducted a raid in the Kuda Buthgamuwa area within the Wellampitiya Police Division following a tip-off.

 

A suspect was arrested during the operation with 1 kilogram and 14 grams of crystal methamphetamine and 14 grams of heroin.

 

The suspect has been handed over to the Wellampitiya Police. He is a 30-year-old resident of Angoda.

 

In a separate operation last evening, officers from the Colombo District Crime Division raided an area along Torrington Avenue within the Cinnamon Gardens Police Division based on information received.

 

A 23-year-old resident of Colombo 7 was arrested on suspicion, with 1 kilogram and 8 grams of cocaine reportedly recovered from his possession.

 

Further investigations are being conducted by the Colombo District Crime Division.
