
A total of nine Indian fishermen and their fishing boat, apprehended by the Sri Lanka Navy for engaging in illegal fishing south of Delft Island, Jaffna, were brought to Kankesanthurai Harbour this morning (04).
The fishermen and the vessel were seized, yesterday (03), after they had crossed the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) and entered Sri Lankan waters, the Navy said.
The fishermen and the fishing boat are due to be handed over to the Jaffna District Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Department for further legal action, the Navy added.
