The Department of Meteorology has issued an Amber-level warm weather advisory for several parts of the country, warning of increased heat conditions during the daytime tomorrow (05).
The advisory was issued by the Natural Hazards Early Warning Centre at 4:00 p.m. today (04) and will remain valid for tomorrow.
The warning has been issued to residents of the Northern, North-Central, Eastern and North-Western provinces and for the Monaragala and Hambantota districts.
According to the Met. Department, the heat index — the temperature felt by the human body — is expected to reach the Caution’ level at some locations in the affected areas during the daytime.
The general public in the affected areas has been advised to take necessary precautions to minimise the effects of the warm weather.
