Hirunika, Nishantha among 6 sacked from UPFA

The United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) has terminated the membership of 6 Provincial Council members representing the party.

Southern Provincial Council member Anthonige Hewa Piyasena, Uva Provincial Council members Vadivel Suresh and Harindra Dharmadasa Bandara, Western Provincial Council members Hirunika Premachandra, Nishantha Sri Warnasinghe and Nirosha Athukorala have been removed from the party. 

The aforementioned PC members contesting the Parliamentary Election from the United National Party (UNP) and independent groups, while they are still members of the UPFA, has been cited as the reason for the termination of membership. 

The announcement was made at a UPFA press conference this morning.
