The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has decided to reduce the duration of the scheduled water supply interruptions to 18 hours, taking into consideration the requests made by consumers.

The Water Board further stated that there will be no changes to the previously scheduled dates and locations affected by the water cuts.

The NWSDB further advised the public to use water sparingly.

A 24-hour water cut was recently announced initially to several areas including Padukka, Homagama, Pelanwatta, and Pannipitiya, to be imposed once in three days, due to the prevailing dry weather conditions affecting the island.

Accordingly, the water cut in the Padukka area is currently in effect, having commenced at 8:00 p.m. yesterday (02), and is scheduled to conclude at 8:00 p.m. today (03).

In addition, a 24-hour water suspension is scheduled for the Homagama area, beginning at 8:00 p.m. today (03) and continuing until 8:00 p.m. tomorrow (April 4).

Furthermore, from 8:00 p.m. tomorrow (04) to 8:00 p.m. on April 5, the NWSDB has decided to impose a 24-hour water cut to residents of Pelanwatta.

Meanwhile, the 24-hour water cut was also imposed to Pannipitiya area once in four days for 24 hours from 8.00 p.m. on April 02.

However, the Board assured today (03) that the planned 24-hour water cuts to the aforementioned areas will be reduced to 18 hours considering the requests made by consumers.

In addition, the NWSDB announced yesterday (02) that three-hour water cuts will be imposed in Battaramulla, Pamankada, Wellawatte, Nawala and surrounding areas on every other day from yesterday until April 10 from 10.00 p.m. to 1.00 a.m.
