The scheduled water cuts affecting several areas in the Colombo District, due to prevailing dry weather conditions, will continue today (April 04).

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) announced last afternoon (03) that, after considering consumer requests, steps have been taken to reduce the planned suspension period from 24 hours to 18 hours.

Accordingly, water supply to these areas will be restricted intermittently on a scheduled basis until April 10.

The NWSDB stated that these planned interruptions will affect several areas, including Padukka, Homagama, Palanwatta, and Pannipitiya.

Implementation Schedule:

• Padukka: Under the first phase, a water cut was implemented from 8:00 p.m. the day before yesterday (02) until 2:00 p.m. yesterday (03).

• Homagama: Water supply will be suspended for 18 hours, starting from 8:00 p.m. yesterday (03) until 2:00 p.m. today (04).

• Palanwatta: A water cut is scheduled from 8:00 p.m. today (04) until 2:00 p.m. tomorrow (05).

The Board further clarified that these water cuts in Padukka, Homagama, and Palanwatta will occur once every three days.

Additionally, a three-hour water suspension will be in effect from 10:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. every other day for the following areas:

• Battaramulla

• Pamankada

• Wellawatta

• Nawala

The NWSDB noted that arrangements have been made to ensure an uninterrupted water supply on days when no scheduled water cuts are in effect.
