After a complaint filed by the Parliamentarian was taken up today Colombo District Judge Ranjith Watupola issued the restraining order until January 12, preventing the UNP from suspending the party membership of Grero and also conducting a disciplinary inquiry on him.
Court issued notice to UNP leader Ranil Wickramasinghe, General Secretary Tissa Attanayake and other officials, who have been named as respondents in the petition, to appear before court on the said date and give statements.
Mohan Lal Grero, who crossed over to the government after voting in favor of the 2012 Budget and was subsequently appointed as a Monitoring MP, in his petition claims that the United National Party is preparing to terminate his party membership without obtaining a statement from him.
