The report compiled following the investigations conducted on the Army Major who was recently assaulted at a five-star hotel in Colombo has been handed over to the Commander of the Sri Lanka Army.
Major Chandana Pradeep of Army Intelligence, who recanted his initial statement that Minister Mervyn Silva’s son Malaka and Rehan Wijeratne had assaulted him, on Sep. 21 informed court that the incident had occurred due to him experiencing sudden distress.
The Sri Lanka Army subsequently appointed a three-member investigative team to probe the Major and his allegations.
A final conclusion will be reached after Army Commander Lt. Gen. Jagath Jayasuriya studies the report submitted by the committee, Military Spokesman Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya said.
However, sources say that according to the report it has been uncovered that the officer in question had violated the Army Act.
