Under the Budget proposal for the year 2019, Minister of Finance Mangala Samaraweera has presented a proposal for a special allowance of Rs 2,500 is to be paid to all government employees.

 

Accordingly, this will be implemented with effect from July 1st.

 

Rs 40 billion has been allocated in the appropriation bill of 2019 for an increase in public sector salaries.

 

As a result of this, the monthly salary of a lower grade government employee will increase from Rs 11,730 in 2015 to Rs 21,400 in 2020.
