The Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of Welikada Police Station, who was arrested on suspicion of allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs. 300,000 each to release the passports of Chinese nationals arrested recently in the Rajagiriya area, has been remanded until June 09 by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.
The suspect was produced before court by the Colombo Central Crimes Investigation Division (CCID) after being taken into custody.
After considering submissions made by attorneys representing both parties, Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama ordered that the suspect be remanded until June 09, 2026, Ada Derana reporter said.
