
The Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court has fixed October 17 for the delivery of the verdict in the case concerning the alleged assault on Pushpika de Silva, winner of the 2021 Mrs. Sri Lanka pageant, and the forcible removal of her crown during the competition.
Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama issued the order after informing court proceedings today (22) that the hearing of evidence in the case had been concluded.
Former Mrs. World titleholder Caroline Jurie and fashion designer Chula Padmendra have been named as the accused in the case.
According to the complaint filed with the Cinnamon Gardens Police, the incident occurred during the 2021 Mrs. Sri Lanka final held at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre, where the two accused allegedly approached Pushpika de Silva on stage, assaulted her, and forcibly removed her crown shortly after she was declared the winner.
