
A foreign-manufactured pistol and five rounds of 9mm ammunition have been recovered in the Meetiyagoda area based on information revealed during the interrogation of a suspect arrested with Crystal Methamphetamine, commonly known as ‘Ice’, police said.
According to the Central Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB), the suspect was arrested on June 19 by officers attached to the Homicides and Organized Crime Investigation Division and is currently being questioned under detention orders.
Police said that during investigations, the suspect provided information that led officers to a concealed location in Meetiyagoda, where the firearm and ammunition were discovered yesterday (22).
The recovered weapon is reported to be a foreign-manufactured pistol, while five rounds of 9mm ammunition were also seized during the operation.
Further investigations are being carried out by the Homicides and Organized Crime Investigation Division of the Central Crime Investigation Bureau.
