
Letters of appointment were presented to the members of the Salaries and Pensions Commission, established by the President with the primary objective of addressing issues relating to the salaries and pensions of public sector employees and pensioners.
The ceremony was held this afternoon (24) at the Presidential Secretariat under the patronage of the Secretary to the President, Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake, the President’s Media Division said in a statement.
The letters of appointment were handed over by T. Ashoka Peiris, a retired Ministry Secretary who serves as the Chairman of the Commission, and the other members of the Commission: Justice K.K.A.V. Swarnadhipathi (Retired), N.B.M. Ranatunga, Dr. R.W. Jayantha, Dr. G.M. Mudith Sujeewa, Brigadier B.J. Fernando (Retired), A.L. Mohamed Mukthar, S.T.B. Ratnayake, A.W. Lal Chandra Weerakoon, G.A.P. Pathmanatha, K.Sarath Lal Perera and the Secretary to the Commission, D.M.C. Nalaka Dissanayake.
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake recently took steps to establish the Salaries and Pensions Commission through Extraordinary Gazette No. 2494/05 dated June 22, 2026, with the objective of finding solutions to the issues relating to the salaries and pensions of public sector employees and pensioners.
Senior Additional Secretary to the President, Roshan Gamage was also present at the occasion.
