At least eight people have been shot, including four children, in Coney Island, New York on Saturday night, ABC News reported, citing the New York Police Department.

All eight have been transported to the hospital by EMS to receive further medical treatment.

Seven of the victims, including a 37-year-old man, a 33-year-old man, a 25-year-old woman, a 14-year-old boy, a 12-year-old boy, a 7-year-old boy, and a 6-year-old boy, are listed as stable, NYPD told ABC.

The eighth, a 21-year-old woman, is reportedly in critical condition.

According to police, the shooting occured during a Fourth of July fireworks celebration in Brooklyn at around 10:35 p.m.

NYPD reportedly find book bag with firearm nearby

A deli worker near the scene told the New York Post that NYPD said it “found a book bag with a gun under the trees... I was scared, to be honest. I think there was more than one shooter with so many [that were] hit.”

“When I [looked] in the [security] camera I [saw] the cops running with the kids in their hands,” the worker shared with the New York Post. “When I went out, I saw one kid was going into the ambulance, and I was told there were four inside.”
