A youth who sustained critical injuries in an attack using a sharp weapon in Kotahena has succumbed after being admitted to the Colombo National Hospital.

The incident had taken place last night (14), prompting the Kotahena Police to launch an investigation following a complaint received by the police.

The deceased has been identified as an 18-year-old resident of Wellampitiya, police said.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the killing had allegedly been carried out by two individuals following the escalation of a personal dispute.

The suspects have been identified, and the Kotahena Police are conducting further investigations to apprehend them.

Meanwhile, the Yakkalamulla Police have launched an investigation after receiving information that a man had been killed using sharp weapon in the Moraketiya area within the Yakkalamulla Police Division.

The victim has been identified as a 54-year-old resident of the Yakkalamulla area, according to police.

Preliminary investigations have revealed that the killing had allegedly occurred after an argument stemming from a previous dispute escalated, resulting in the victim being attacked with a sharp weapon.

A 27-year-old suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident, while the Yakkalamulla Police are conducting further investigations.
