Two more suspects accused of aiding and abetting the hand grenade attack on a house on Sirisangabo Mawatha, Dehiwala, which resulted in the murder of two children, were arrested yesterday (25).
The suspects were identified during the ongoing investigation into the crime committed on September 11, in which two children were killed and their father was seriously injured in the grenade attack.
The Western Province South Crimes Division is conducting the investigation.
The main suspect accused of carrying out the attack and two accomplices were previously arrested on September 17. Investigative officers apprehended the suspects in the Rideemaliyadda, Dehiwala, and Boralesgamuwa police divisions, and they have since been remanded in custody.
Based on information obtained during interrogations, the additional suspects were arrested in the Dehiwala Police Division on suspicion of aiding and abetting the grenade attack.
At the time of their arrest, officers seized 11 grams and 960 milligrams of “Ice” (crystal methamphetamine), along with a three-wheeler allegedly used in the commission of the crime.
The suspects, aged 30 and 31, are residents of Piliyandala and Kahathuduwa.
The Western Province South Crimes Division is conducting further investigations into the incident.
