The Central Criminal Investigation Bureau (CCIB) has launched an investigation into a suspicious container located within the Colombo Port premises.
The police have reportedly sought permission from the Colombo Magistrate’s Court to inspect the container.
The investigation was initiated based on information received regarding the suspicious container at the port.
In an inquiry made by Ada Derana, a spokesperson for the Sri Lanka Customs confirmed that the court had informed them regarding such a container.
Customs said the container, which had been prepared for export, had been brought to the attention of the authorities, and that the court had informed Customs to permit the police to inspect it.
Accordingly, the Colombo Central Criminal Investigation Bureau is expected to be granted permission to inspect the container, according to Sri Lanka Customs .
