A suspect has been arrested for allegedly aiding and abetting a triple murder carried out by gunfire in Halpathota, Baddegama, police stated.
The shooting took place on September 27, 2026, when a group travelling in a three-wheeler was allegedly fired upon by a group who arrived in a car. The victims were reportedly shot with a firearm in the Halpathota area.
Following the incident, officers of the Central Anti Vice Striking Force launched an investigation into the shooting.
During the investigation, a 23-year-old suspect from Kahawatta was arrested in the Baddegama Police Division last night (29). Police said the suspect was found in possession of 6.1 grams of heroin and was subsequently handed over to the Baddegama Police Station.
Police allege that the suspect had provided assistance and support in connection with the triple murder.
The suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Baddegama Magistrate’s Court.
Further investigations are being conducted by the Baddegama Police.
