The Government Medical Officers’ Association will launch an island-wide strike from 8 a.m. tomorrow, says GMOA Secretary Dr. Nalinda Herath.
Dr. Herath, issuing a statement on Wednesday (02) asserted the GMOA decided to resort to strike action as the authorities failed to respond to its key issues with respect several proposals suggested in the Budget 2016.
Dr. Herath added the decision was taken after an urgent Central Committee meeting which was held at its trade union head office.
The GMOA insists the authorities not to cut privileges provided for doctors, or in protest we will resort to strike action, the statement said. The statement also added the GMOA seeks a practical solution for its issues before the Budget 2016 approved by the Parliament.
