Woman arrested for fraudulently receiving money promising Japanese employment

A woman, who had fraudulently received 40 million rupees from people promising employment opportunities in Japan, was arrested in Kadawatha today (16).

 

The suspect was arrested following a raid carried out by the special investigation unit of Sri Lankan Foreign Employment Bureau. 

 

A number of fraudulent documents including 14 fraudulent seals, 80 Passports, which were under the suspect’s possession were also taken into custody.

 

The suspect was remanded until October 19 after being produced before Mahara Magistrate today, according to officials of Sri Lankan Foreign Employment Bureau.

 

Meanwhile, The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) on September 28 announced that no program have been implemented by the office to provide employment opportunities in Japan.

 

“It has been reported that various persons and institutions are fraudulently demanding money from people stating that employment opportunities will be provided in Japan, in collaboration with the PMO.”said the PMO.

 

The PMO does not implement any such program, and no person or institution has been granted such a power, the PMO announced while issuing a press release.
