Driver missing after tractor plunges into Viyana Canal

A tractor driver is reportedly missing after the vehicle plunged into the Viyana Canal in the Diyabana area along the Mahiyanganaya–Mapakada Road, within the Mahiyanganaya Police Division.

 

According to police, the accident had occurred yesterday (21) when the driver lost control of the tractor while traveling towards Mapakada, causing the vehicle to overturn and fall into the canal.

 

The driver is believed to have drowned following the incident and remains missing, police said.

 

Police have identified the missing individual as a 45-year-old resident of the Mahiyanganaya area.

 

Further investigations are being conducted by the Mahiyanganaya Police.
