
The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has approved the inclusion of the Afghanistan Cricket Board in the rotation of Full Member boards eligible to assume the ACC Presidency.
The decision was taken at the ACC’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Bangkok, Thailand, with representatives from all ACC member countries participating.
Previously, the ACC Presidency rotated among Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and India. The inclusion of Afghanistan expands the rotation to five Full Member boards.
UAE’s Khalid Al Zarooni Elected ACC Vice President
The AGM unanimously elected Khalid Al Zarooni, Vice President of the Emirates Cricket Board, as the new Vice President of the Asian Cricket Council.
Members also elected representatives to the ACC Executive Board for the 2026–2028 term.
For non-Test-playing Full Member countries, Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Saoud Al Thani, President of the Qatar Cricket Association, and Mahmood Gaznavi, President of the Singapore Cricket Association, were elected.
Representing Associate Members, Mohamed Faisal of the Cricket Board of Maldives and Mohammad Mansoor of the Bahrain Cricket Federation were elected to share the term of office.
ACC Committees to Be Formed
The AGM also approved the establishment of several ACC committees covering areas including governance, administration, cricket development, competitions and finance.
The ACC said details of the newly appointed committees will be announced in due course.
ACC President Welcomes Decisions
ACC President Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi welcomed the decisions taken at the AGM, describing cricket in Asia as a force that connects nations, cultures and generations.
He congratulated the newly elected Vice President and Executive Board members and thanked member boards for their cooperation.
The ACC said it remains committed to strengthening cricket across Asia, creating greater opportunities for emerging cricketing nations and supporting the sustainable development of the sport at all levels.
