Sri Lanka Port Authority stated that statements had been recorded from 358 persons regarding the fire at an inbound cargo warehouse in the port of Colombo while the estimated cargo loss from the fire has now been tallied at Rs.400 million.

 

A fire had broken out in the inbound cargo warehouse CFS 1 at JCT terminal inside the Port of Colombo at around 1.00 am on May 24, however was completely quelled several hours later.

 

The Colombo Crimes Division is conducting further inquiries into the matter.

 

CCTV footage of the fire has also been taken in for investigation, the police stated.

 

The Ports Authority stated that an internal inquiry will also take place regarding the fire which broke out at the port.
