VIDEO: Justice will be served regarding Z-score issue - SB

The government will ensure that the students who were inconvenienced by the Z-score will be granted justice, Higher Education Minister S.B. Dissanayake stated today (July 26) at a media briefing.

He said that the government will make sure that the new Z-score will give relief to students who lost the opportunity to enter university.

The President earlier directed the Higher Education Minister to forward a comprehensive report on the implementing process of the Z-score.

MP Namal Rajapaksa told Ada Derana earlier this week that the government is considering giving university admission to 2011 A/L students in two batches, following the z-score issue.

He added that this has been contemplated to avoid any injustice tostudents who sat for the G.C.E. Advanced Level examination under the old and new syllabus.

Meanwhile, there has been widespread condemnation regarding the handling of the Z-score issue with A/L students around the island staging numerous protests and opposition parties demanding justice for students who they claim have been wronged by the government’s inability to handle the situation.

Furthermore, UNP MP Akila Viraj Kariyawasam demanded earlier this week that the government explain exactly how the Z-score is calculated.
