UPDATE: FUTA pull out of govt. media conference

The Federation of University Teachers Association (FUTA) Secretary stated that FUTA will not participate at the joint media conference with the government scheduled for today (October 11).

A joint media briefing with the participation of government Ministers and the President of the Federation of University Teachers Association (FUTA) was to be held today (October 11) at the Ministry of Economic Development, the Government Information Department stated.

The press conference was announced by Higher Education Minister S.B. Dissanayake in parliament yesterday while he along with Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa was to attend the briefing.

The media briefing was scheduled to be held at 2pm today at the Ministry.

FUTA Secretary Dr. Terrence Madhujith however stated that FUTA will not be participating in the briefing.

However, the government will hold the scheduled press conference without FUTA on University issues.
