Asian U20 Athletics Championships: Tharushi Abisheka secures bronze in 800m event

Teenager Tharushi Abisheka Pemasiri claimed the Bronze Medal in the Women’s 800m event at the Asian U20 Athletics Championships 2026 in Hong Kong this afternoon (31).
She finished the event in 2:07.10 seconds. The 800m event was won by Japan's Sasaki Hanon while China's Deng Yue claimed the Bronze Medal.
Tharushi Abisheka Pemasiri also won the Gold Medal in the Women’s 1500m event at the Asian U20 Athletics Championships.
Meanwhile, Nethsara Dineth Liyanage claimed the Silver Medal in the 800m at the Asian Junior Athletics Championship.
He clocked 1:49.22 seconds to win the Silver Medal behind India’s Venkatram Reddy who won the Gold Medal after finishing the 800M event in 1:48.27 seconds.
